| SUMMARY of BSR -QUICK PROJECT ,,Qualification, Innovation, Cooperation and Keybusiness for Small and Medium Enterprises in the Baltic Sea Region” Panevezys Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts is a partner in Project BSR QUICK. Together with 38 other partners the parties are implementing the INTEREG IVB Project ,,BSR QUICK” – approved by the Monitoring Committee of the Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007-2013 from 17th of December 2009 until 16th of December 2012. The most important arguments in favor of this Project The medium-sized economy is the backbone of our economic system. Especially in the current economic crisis, the small and medium sized companies need to be promoted to secure and create new jobs and stabilize the economy. With its comprehensive partnership QUICK will reach 400.000 SMEs in the Baltic Sea Region. An improved innovation support is of high significance for those companies. QUICK will realize innovations specifically designed for SMEs in four clusters, that are of high importance a) Energy, Climate and Environment, b) modern construction technologies, c) Organization and personnel development So far, there is hardly any cooperation between the universities and the companies. QUICK will establish this missing link. The partner universities will realize a transfer and improvement of technologies and develop new technologies in the pre-mentioned four innovation cluster. Also the universities will form an academic network called “Baltic Sea Academy” that will focus on an intense cooperation with SMEs. Another shortage for the development of SMEs is the qualification and the availability, also due to demographic reasons, of experts and management. Quick develops specific training measures, that will be realized on an ongoing basis by the partners, also after project end, and therefore reach many companies in the region. Also QUICK will implement additional dual bachelor study courses at the locations in the region. Through a strong cooperation of the network of chambers and universities the transnational exchange and transfer of technologies and knowledge, as well as the concrete implementation, and the transnational cooperation of companies will be promoted. This guarantees a sustainable boost of innovation and export activities for companies with a broad, long lasting effect. Broad use of international market and innovation potential: Improvement of the international setting of SMEs; activation of great existing reserves in export and opening up of new market potentials: International cooperation foster intensively innovations, best practices will be directly exchanged between the companies. At the same time, the SMEs get additional growth opportunities on international markets. The developed measures for Baltic Sea Region are naturally beneficial for the companies in our region. |
| Foundation of the Baltic Sea Academy in Hamburg Major impulse for a growing region of world standing Central bottlenecks for the further development of the medium-sized economy in all countries around the Baltic Sea Region concern the shortage of young people, managers and qualified employees and the equally significant need for product and process innovations. To stay competitive in the globalised world, especially versus low-labour cost countries, the companies need highly qualified people and the best possible innovation support. A step into the right direction has been made by the recently established Baltic Sea Academy, that is based on the specific demands of the small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). In order to remove growth barriers, this innovation structure was founded together with 15 universities from North Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Russia, Finland and Sweden on initiative of the Hanse Parlament on February 22nd, 2010. The inaugural meeting voted unanimously as an executive board: President: Dr. Max Hogeforster, Hanse-Parlament, Hamburg Vice-president: Prof. Dr. Romualdas Ginevicius, President of the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Vice-president: Sirpa, Sandelin, pedagogic director, Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, Finland. "We have created a unique infrastructure in Europe and international cooperation for the promotion of the medium-sized economy. On one side the universities in the context of the Baltic Sea Academy and on the other side the Hanseatic Parliament with 45 chambers of commerce, crafts and industry. Both networks will be coordinated tightly and promote the companies in the Baltic Sea Region", stated Dr. Max Hogeforster, president of the Baltic Sea Academy. The universities educate employees and executives in dual study courses and safeguard the urgently required well-qualified young academics for skilled crafts and medium-sized companies. At the same time the members of the Baltic Sea Academy take over technology and knowledge transfers as well as tasks of the research and development in a close cooperation with the regional chambers for the small and medium-sized enterprises. With the international exchange of students and the Baltic Sea Region wide cooperation in the innovation promotion the foreign-trade activity is supported by enterprises simultaneously. Members of the Hanse Parlament are 45 Business Chambers from all 11 countries of the Baltic Sea Region, representing more than 450.000 companies. Enterprises that look for executives or skilled workers or would like to benefit from the upcoming innovation promotion are welcome to contact their local chamber or university of the network. More information and addresses can be found at http://www.hanse-parlament.eu/ and http://www.baltic-sea-academy.eu/ . This unique international cooperation in favour of the medium-sized economy is part-financed from the European Union within the INTERREG IVB Program. This allows enterprises to participate free of charge at events of the Baltic Sea Academy. Such a first international business forum for businessman takes place in Lublin on March 22nd and 23rd, 2010. Innovations and modern techniques of the energy and environmental sector will be introduced. The forum serves for the initiation of international contacts on company level at the same time.
